Why rent a cargo bike to explore Paris ?
The right bank of the Seine is closed to cars for 7 km. Canal Saint-Martin has wide cycling paths on both sides. The Bois de Vincennes is reachable in under 30 minutes from Bastille along the riverside cycle lanes. Paris has changed dramatically over the last few years, and the city is now one of the most cycle-friendly capitals in Europe.
A cargo bike rental in Paris gives you something no hop-on hop-off bus or metro pass can offer: the freedom to stop whenever you want, carry your children on board, and access areas that are completely off-limits to cars.
All our models run on a Bosch Cargo Line electric motor delivering 85 Nm of torque. At a red light with two children in the front box, the bike pulls away with no effort. No particular fitness level required. For route planning, the Geovelo app has a « safe route » mode that only uses protected cycle paths, useful if you are not familiar with Parisian traffic patterns.
What you can do in one day
The Seine riverbanks from Bastille
The starting point for most of our tourist rentals. From our workshop on rue Crillon, the Seine riverbanks are five minutes away. The path is flat, car-free, and runs for 7 km with views over the Louvre, Pont des Arts and the Eiffel Tower. Children can get out at several points along the way. Count between 2 hours and half a day depending on your pace.
Le Marais, République, Canal Saint-Martin
A more urban route, but perfectly manageable with a cargo bike. From Le Marais to Canal Saint-Martin via Place de la République, you ride through several neighbourhoods in their everyday atmosphere — something a bus or metro simply cannot give you. The streets of Le Marais are sometimes narrow: the Tern GSD longtail handles them more easily than the Urban Arrow front-box bike. Worth considering when choosing your model.
Bois de Vincennes : a full day out
For families who want to mix city and open space, the Bois de Vincennes is the right option. It is reachable in under 30 minutes from Bastille via the riverside cycle paths. The park is vast, the roads are adapted for cycling, and the lakeside makes a natural stop for a picnic. This route works well for primary school-age children who can stay in the bike or get out depending on the area.
Which cargo bike should you rent?
The right model depends on the age of your children and the size of your group.
You have young children : 0 to 8 years
The Urban Arrow Family is the right cargo bike for families with young children. Its front EPP foam box comfortably fits two children. For babies from 3 months, we provide a Steco adapter with a compatible infant seat: your baby faces you throughout the ride. This is our most popular model for tourist families.
If you are two adults, the second parent can rent a Quick Haul — a compact electric longtail that keeps pace with the convoy without any specific child-carrying equipment.
You have older children : 5 years and above
The Tern GSD S-10 is a strong alternative. Children sit at the back, the riding position is more dynamic, and the bike handles more like a standard bicycle. The GSD is particularly easy to ride in denser areas like Le Marais.
For children over 8 or 10 who can ride independently, it may make more sense to rent separate bikes rather than a single cargo bike. Worth discussing depending on your itinerary.
You are two adults without children
The Tern GSD S-10 or the Quick Haul Long are both well suited for a couple on a tourist ride. The GSD can carry one adult passenger at the back if needed. For two adults who want to ride separately, two Quick Haul bikes are the most comfortable setup.

What to know before you go
Cycle paths. The network is extensive but not always obvious if you don’t know Paris. Geovelo in safe mode avoids dangerous roads and sticks to protected paths. Highly recommended for first-time riders in the city.
Parking. Cargo bikes can be locked to street furniture (Saint-André crosses, standard cycle hoops) or in underground car parks with dedicated bike areas. Always use both provided locks: one through the wheel, one through the frame to a fixed point.
Rain. Rain covers are available to protect passengers in the front box. On wet days, the cobblestones in central Paris require slightly more care when braking.
Battery range. Our fleet runs on 500 to 545 Wh batteries, giving a real-world range of 50 to 70 km depending on the assist level and load. More than enough for a full day of sightseeing. A charger is provided for multi-day rentals.
